Madonna too busy to be Britney and Kevin's baby's godmother

Madonna has reportedly rejected Britney Spears’ request for her to be the godmother to her first child. Britney was desperate for her superstar mentor to be religious guardian to her baby with husband Kevin Federline when it is born this fall – but Madonna is too busy.

A source says, "Britney was so disappointed but told Madonna she understands."

I saw this on Extra and they said that Madonna’s rep said that Britney never asked Madonna to be the baby’s godmother. I never saw her asking Madonna anyway. She’ll probably ask her cousin Laura Lynn they seem really close.

Yes, she probably should keep it in the family.

This is one of those that stories. If you like Britney its embarassing for her. And if you dont like what she represents its like – a mean smile.

Godparents in celebrity-ville dont seem to be about being “religious” guardian. But more a celebrity bond, that the child can cash in when in grows up and decides yes I do want to launch a pop career. Its something to talk about on the Jay Leno of the day…

If it’s true I find that a bit odd. Most people are really flattered to be asked to be a godparent. Maybe Madonna isn’t so keen on this whole pregnancy or Kevin or maybe they’re not as close as we thought.

Also, what religions use godparents? I’m Roman Catholic so we do, but do Kabbalah followers have godparents and what makes you on in their eyes? Is there a ceremony like a christening or baptism type?

Too busy?? I don’t get it ,whats there to be too busy for? she isn’t asking for a baby sitter or her to be nanny.
I am godmother to a lovely little girl. I didn’t knwo it came with a scheduel? and have to punch in ?LOL
At least she was honest.

Ummmmmm even though i am DEFINITLY NOT a fan of briteny and don’t really care about wat she does, whne i heard this i felt for her, because (personally) i think it’s abit horrible. Just because your a superstar singer it doesnt mean you havent got the time to be a godmother, as some one said its not a scheduel!

I think it is a little silly that Britney asked Madonna, because Britney has a sister and a lot of friends from home that she is probably alot closer to than Madonna. Asking someone to be the Godmother of your child is a big deal and you should ask somebody that will have a lot to do with you and the baby when it is born. How close can Britney and Madonna possibly be? Just because they shared a kiss doesn’t mean they have to share a baby
