James wears vintage and hand me downs

CBB Reader Mary sent us this blurb she typed up for us:

Intouch041105james Entertainment Tonight interviewed Sarah Jessica Parker on Tuesday May 3rd for her upcoming movie The Family Stone.  SJP told Mark Steiner that her son, James Wilkie, wear hands-me-down clothes from her nephew, who is 1 and 1/1 years older than James, and a lot of vintage clothes that her brother wore 30 years ago.  No wonder the little boy is always mismatched!  This is one of the pictures that aired on the show.

I’m thinking the whole family looks a bit mismatched in this picture. With the amount of money they make, it’s nice they wear vintage and hand me down clothes, but they can afford more.

- Rachael on

SJP needs to buy that baby some clothes!

- Sylvie on

They look OH-SO New York. I love it!

I think a lot of celebrities looked mismatched a lot of the time.

SJP has an interesting sense of style, so I’m sure she purposely does that.

- Mary on

He’s a cute kid but if my mom made that much money I would be asking for NEW clothes. But i suppose he’s too young to care!!!

I think it’s adorable.

I saw the interview with SJP where she said that her sons were hands me down. She seems so happy and proud that her son gets to wear those clothes. It made me like her a lot, I mean she can spend tons of money on clothes but chooses not too because she rather that her son wears clothes from her family. I think its awasome. I say do it up SJP.

They’re such a cute family! James is absolutely adorable!

How old is James? Hand me downs from his 1 and a half year old cousin? I thought he was older than that and they’d be too small for him.

Still, I think it’s great not to spend ridiculous amounts of money on kids clothing but to be fair she does spend a lot on a handbag so where does she think this is going to balance out? Put James in hand me downs while we buy ridiculously expensive other things? It has been reported they bought him really expensive nursery furniture and a Silver Cross pram and they’re not cheap!

Is it just me or does little James look like a mini Macualy Culkin? Anyway I think
its cute that James wears hand me downs. There is nothing better that I like when I see my nieces wearing my old clothes. Its a good feeling.

Oh thats sweet !!!! My nieces and nephews wear our 30 year old hand me downs. They look very retro & original. It’s nice to know we aren’t the only ones !!!!!

- Clare on

Why does her son get hand-me-downs from someone younger than him? Isn’t James 2? He’s very cute though. Hehe, I’d love to see him wearing something really retro! XD

I think she said in the article that her nephew is exactly a year and a half older than James, not that he was one and a half years old. I also got the impression that all these clothes in question were her brother’s from 30 years ago, and then were handed down to the nephew (who is her brother’s son), and then handed down to James. None of them were clothes bought for the nephew, so it’s all about them being vintage, which SJP loves.

Thanks for the corrections. I didn’t see the program, so I only knew what Mary sent in. Thanks!

James is such an adorable little boy! And I like his hand-me-downs.

I grew up wearing hand me downs and now most of my clothes I got are from garage sales and it saved me alot of money and also all they all look brand new. I think that Sarah is teaching her son values and that money isn’t everything. One thing I like about wearing hand me downs or clothes from garage sales is that I don’t have to worry about being uncomfortable. LOL Kudos to Sarah. Remember Sarah grew up poor and didn’t have much and she has learned what it’s like to value a dollar and she’s teaching her son the same thing.
