Wyclef welcomes newly adopted Haitian daughter home

S418bfe39e60ba771_1 We had previously reported that they were in the process of adopting. Now, Wyclef Jean and his wife [Marie] Claudinette have welcomed into their home a new daughter, Angelina Claudinelle. They adopted her from Haiti approximately three weeks ago. There is no word on her exact age. SFGate reports that at a friend’s party in New York City on Sunday, the "gushing" Jeans proudly showed of their new daughter.

Thanks to Ally for the heads-up.

OOOH! I’m so happy for them. I’m glad they adopted from Haiti since it is one(if not THE) poorest country in the world. It’s great that Angelina will get a new start in life in the USA. Congrats to them.

I think it’s great that they adopted from their motherland. Lucky baby.

That is amazing for them, and I love their little daughter’s name. Alyson is 100% correct, Haiti is one of the poorest countries in the world and while adopting a child from anywhere is beautiful, it is even better when you know that the odds are so incredibly against a Haitian child to even survive a year after their birth. That is the country I plan on adopting from, can’t you tell. :)

Aw good for them.

Wyclef was born in Hati. He and his family came to America when he was young. I’m so glad he hasn’t forgotten where he came from. And now he and his wife will be giving this little girl the opportunity to grow and benefit from all the wonderful things this country has to offer. Just like Wyclef did when he came to this country as a child. Not to mention the love of two wonderful parents. God Bless their new family.

Is this baby going to be their first child together?

- crazy on

Someone in the other post said that she believes they already have a son together, but I’m not sure. I have not read anything about them having any other children.

I wonder if they adoped from the orphange that is sometimes shown on Adoption Stories on the Discovery channel!?

Does anyone here know what I’m talking about?

- Alyson on

Congrats to them and It really does’nt supries me that they adopted a child from where Wyclef’s family immigrated from.I know one day I’ll adopt a child from an underdevopled nation, particuly from Central or South America.I’d give it a Spanish name so it can have a part of it’s biological heritage.I thought of the name Jose’,but now Jose Canseco ruined for forever,so I know I’ll come up with a name one day.

NO HAITI IS NOT THE POOREST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD , OF COURSE.. THEY NOT GOING TO SHOW U THE BEAUTIFUL PART OF HAITI,

- SMILY on

I’m very glad that celebrities are looking more outside themselves and embracing others from other countries. Especially those of poor countries. One sugestion; since they are so into adoption. how about adopting a child from Cape Verde Islands? there are a lot of gorgeous children that are in need of adoption. Go to http://www.cvchildren.com or org; and you’ll find lots of information. Capeverdeans are known for being hard working and friendly people. Even tourism is booming there right now. The Grepne family from England are investing big there right now. Capeverdeans have portuguese and african (plus some other backgrounds I think) ancestries. Therefore, the culture is very rich. Hope someone reads this and give it a shot. And congratulations to all those celebrities making an effort in giving another being a better start in life. I honor them all for their love and dedication. Thank you very very much.
