Brooke Shields new tell all postpartum book

DowncametherainIn her new book Down Came the Rain : My Journey Through Postpartum Depression, Brooke Shields confesses that she was so low after giving birth to  daughter Rowan in 2003, she contemplated suicide.

She says, "I didn’t feel joy at all. I was in a bizarre state of mind… This was sadness of a shockingly different magnitude. It felt as if it would never go away."

But, despite the depression and her many efforts to conceive children in the
past, Brooke wants to have more kids.   She said, "I really want to have more children."

Hopefully, her book will help bring this widely misunderstood problem into the spotlight, despite the fact that it affects many new mothers.

What a brave and wonderful thing Brooke has done. I hope she is able to have more kids. She seems like a wonderful lady!

I admire Brooke for sharing her experiences with PPD. I bet it helps other women suffering from the same thing feel not quite so alone. Marie Osmond did the same thing. I really like Brooke and I wish her the best of luck as she tries for another baby!

As someone who had PPD, it is helpful when people are truthful about it. This part of life should be more accepted and talked about so women don’t feel the shame that stops them from getting help.

Good for her for being open about it. I hope they don’t have to do another 8 invitros to get number 2!

Sarcastic Journalist-You said exactly what I wanted to say. Right on! It is so amazing how we feel so ashamed of it. I know I did. I can’t wait to read this book.

Heard about this book recently; the jacket cover is a beautifully honest and vulnerable portrait of Brooke Shields. Like many others, I’m drawn to her experience with PPD as well as the enlightenment it’s sure to bring to families that may not realize how devastating PPD can be.

I could have used this book back when I had my first in 2001.

Well,I should’nt be suprised ’cause they say that women who been through numerous rounds of IVF and/or had mulitple miscarriages are likely to have post-delivery depression .
