Heidi loses modeling contract due to pregnancy

1_71 Heidi Klum issued a statement today announcing that she has lost a modeling contract for the upcoming season with Germany’s largest mail-order catalogue, Otto Versand,  "because I’m pregnant".

Anyone hear anything else about this? I realize that her body is her job, but this just doesn’t seem right.

It doesnt seem right..doesnt make me happy…she is one of the most gorgeous supermodels out there! She can come back after…geez….

This story can be read everywhere here in Germany at the moment. So I think it’s true. And I think it’s the stupidiest thing the “Otto Versand” ever did. I mean, they are selling clothes for modern women, housewifes and mothers. What can be better than to have a famous model on the cover, who is also everywhere in the press right now because of the pregnancy? And she can pose again once the baby is born.

Never liked Otto Versand anyway…

Me again: OK, maybe there are reasons we don’t know, maybe she was scheduled for a photoshooting in two months and Otto loses a lot of money now or whatever.
I mean, Claudia Schiffer posed for the Otto catalogue with her little son, and there wasn’t such a fuss about the whole pregnancy. So there might be reasons we simply don’t know.
But I’m still not happy with their decision.

I agree she should have lost the contract. They probably wanted a thin model, not a baby belly. No offence to Heidi.

well, they didn’t sign her to do maternity clothings. standing around for hours, not just for a magazine but for a catalogue, under harsh lighting can’t be good for a pregnant woman anyway. even for a professional model like heidi.

They probably signed her to do regular clothes, not maternity. So, that would make sense.

I just read an article in one of the big German newspapers and it said that Heidi actually lost the contract because she cancelled a photoshooting and an official meeting with the company board. Apparently they didn’t really care about the pregnancy… Well, who knows…

In the Netherlands the news is that she did lose her job because she was asking for an increase of salary, not because she’s pregnant.

having a child is worth so much more then having a modeling contract and it’s much more important.
