Brooklyn Beckham's bling

03/04/2005 at 12:03 PM ET

According to The Daily Mail, David and Victoria Beckham commissioned New York designer Jacob the Jeweller to create £75,000 pair diamond earrings for son Brooklyn’s sixth .  Apparently, they are just like David’s.  A source told the paper, "Brooklyn adores his father and always wants everything his dad has got.

Why such an extravagant gift?  Ostensibly the couple wanted to give Brooklyn a special present after this past year in which rumors of David’s infidelity were all the talk in the tabloids.  Also, they are not known for restraint with money.

And of course no six year old’s is complete without a party!  Brooklyn’s party at the Beckham’s Spanish estate will have a clown, juggler and fire eater.  Elizabeth Hurley and Baby Spice Emma Bunton are invited.

Just two words: SICK & RIDICULOUS !

katie on

when is brooklyn’s birthday?

Anna on

I don’t think that it would be really safe for a child to be wearing something that expensive. Some bad person could try to kidnap him for the earrings, also he could loose them I know that my boys would!

Linzy on

What are they going to buy him for his 18th?
A small country

Anna on

Brooklyn’s Birthday is today! He was born on March 4,1999.

Sam on

I went to a currency convert, if I am correct, the diamond earrings would be roughly around $99,336 (in USD). But anyways, if I had the amount of money that the Beckhams have, I might buy muy child an expensive gift like that. But I would not let my child wear expensive jewelery around town because some horrible person my harm my child for the jewelery. I would only let my child wear it at formal occassions or around the house.

Anne on

Hey, they can afford it so, why not?

I do hope that they are also spending as much effort to raise a caring, responsible, citizen of the world, though.

Alyson on

LOL Linzy!! I would have to agree with Julie. He is too young for a gift like that. Kids his age should worry about getting dirty knees and making mud pies, not how they look in expensive jewlery.

Sam on

Linzy- I think he’ll have the small country before his 18th birthday. hehe.

stephanie on

this is from the Daily Mail. Victoria herself has said that she call it “Daily Hate Mail”. However, Brooklyn did get a diamond watch a few years back, but he only wore it twice, at Dave Gardner’s wedding and Scooby Doo premiere, never in paparazzi pictures where he’s playing. Even without all the bling, he already is the most recogniseable celebrity child in the UK, he has a full time bodyguard with him at all times ever since he was a baby because of all the death threats Victoria and David got.

And Julie, the gift might be ridiculous, but how can you call it ‘sick’?

Kady on

Who bets Brooklyn would rather have had a remote control car?

According to some newspaper, “David and Victoria Beckham have denied claims that they showered their son Brooklyn with expensive gifts on his sixth birthday.

Rumours suggested that the couple bought Brooklyn a pair of £25,000 diamond earrings.

However, the truth of the matter is that Brooklyn was happy enough with a push-bike and Power Rangers figures.

A friend of the couple told The Mirror, “Brooklyn really wanted a bike and was over the moon when he saw that his parents had bought him one.”

Brooklyn’s biggest present was a huge superhero-themed party at the Beckhams’ villa in Madrid, which was attended by the entire Real Madrid football team.

A spokesperson confirmed, “Of course he didn’t get diamond earrings. He hasn’t even got his ears pierced.”

I live in England and all I hear or read about lately is how the Beckham’s spoil their children. Let me tell you it worse then the diamond earrings he’s getting for his b-day.

Brooklyn has a garage full of mini cars that match his dad’s cars. They cost between $35,000 and $50,000.00 each!! For x-mas he got a another one. These are cars that run on gas and go 35 mph! Also, they hired a butler for nearly $2000.00 to come and open gifts for them on x-mas. I guess they didn’t want the kids to be exhausted opening up the 100′s of gifts they received!

The latest is they are building the boys a huge wooden castle playground for well over $400,000.00 at their home in Madrid.

So, yeah…it is quite sick and horrible what they are doing to the boys. I don’t think it shows them a realistic view of life. Poor little guys.

Marit on

LOL. That’s really funny. Hiring someone to open your children’s gifts. But seriously maybe David & Victoria are afraid that their kids will get paper-cuts from opening too many gifts. hehe!

lolol, that’s funny.

5/3/05 – Beckhams deny expensive gift claims

Saturday, March 5 2005, 12:11 GMT — by Daniel Kilkelly

David and Victoria Beckham have denied claims that they showered their son Brooklyn with expensive gifts on his sixth birthday.

You really can’t believe anything in the tabloids (particularly the British ones) especially about the Beckham’s.

stephanie on

Quoting Jennifer Lopez’s publicist: “Don’t believe the Brits!”

stephanie on

Alice, I apologise if you read my previous comment and were offended. I merely want to state that living in England and all, you might know that the general knowledge is that tabloids especially Sunday tabloids, are never reliable sources. I just don’t understand how you can call their parenting “sick and horrible” based on something like that.

alice on

LoL! I actually don’t believe everything single thing I read or see on t.v. BUT…how sure are you that what you’ve just posted is the truth? Where did you get your info from? T.V. celebrity gossip prgrams? A tabliod paper who reports only the truth? The internet? Oh I know…your the Beckham’s best mate!

Ani, what’s wrong with British tabloid? LoL! Is American tabloid any better? Given that I am American I know how gossip hungry the media is in the USA. There are tons of celebrity gossip shows…Entertainment Tonight and the lot. It’s everywhere and not better or worse.

Guys…it’s all rubbish! It’s all here to get you to buy the magazines and papers…it’s here to get you to watch the shows. We’ve ALL fallen for it because it’s well…intriging. What we write here is what we’ve read and watched. We follow the stories and gossip amongst ourselves. Hence why this place exists. It allows us to have a peek into the lives of celebrities we like, love or hate. A PEEK…not their entire life. If it’s not been 100% confirmed by the people (celebrities or their publisist) it’s ALL gossip.

So, please don’t get all uptight if someone says something that may or my not be true according to gossip they’ve read or whatever.

alice on

I say that about them because the live that they have been afforded is one that offers them the a world of possibilites. If in fact they are spoiling their children to the point of giving them an unrealistic view of life then yes…it is sick. I am not saying that they don’t love their children, but there are plenty of other ways to show it then purcahsing a fleet of mini cars.

As you posted Brooklyn was happy with a new bike and some action figures that he recieved for his birthday. He is obviously no different than any other young child. It makes me wonder if it’s not an issue his parent’s have.

stephanie on

i seriously don’t get what you’re talking about. what you just posted contradicts what you posted previously.

i just don’t like how you use those words to comment on people you don’t even know, it’s just too harsh. what i just posted might not be true, because i don’t know them and that’s just what their publicist is saying, but then again, neither do you.
