Joe Millionaire's Zora Andrich welcomes daughter Zarina

As we reported last month, Zora Andrich, 32, was expecting a baby, with no word on the due date or the father. Turns out she’s not so single and the due date wasn’t that far away! Dad is boyfriend Todd Michael, 37, and the little girl, named Zarina Morgan, was born on February 3rd, after a drug-free, eight hour labor.

Dannnngggg!! She had an 8 hour, drug-free labor?! Oh Lordy!! Mine lasted for 4 hours, and this was my first baby. I was VERY lucky. But, only half my body was numbed up until I was 8 centimeters dilated. That was the most pain I had ever felt in my entire life. It was worth it though. They upped my drip after that. My nurse told me that it was very unusual for a first time mother to only push for 20 minutes. Once again, I was blessed with the genetics thing. Thank God!!

But, Congratulations to her!! The pain is totally worth it!! It’s a wonderful experience.

Gee, April, I was thinking she was lucky to only have 8 hours. Mine was 17 and still no drugs (my choice, though). I’ve had friends who have gone longer than that and we all choose to go drug-free and most of us have our babies in our homes. We’re the minority in America, though!

The pushing part is really easy for me, too. I pushed twice with my my first daughter (less than five minutes), and my second flew out without any pushing at all. No tears or anything, either. I broke my pelvis 6 and a half years ago, and now it’s really open…So, easy deliveries for me!! My OB says they are the easiest deliveries she’s ever seen in her life. At least SOMETHING good came out of the very painful experience of breaking my pelvis into a gazillion pieces!

Actually there are a lot of “brave” women on your very own website Just off the top of my head, the following “celebrities” have had homebirths: Cindy Crawford (2), Kelly Preston (1), Pamela Anderson (2), Meryl Streep, Demi Moore, Lucy Lawless, Jade Jagger, Laura Dern, Erykah Badu, Ricki Lake, Lisa Bonet, Julianne Moore is rumored to have had one, and on and on. It’s more common than we think and it’s very possible!

Home birth, water birth, midwives, support doulas, hypnosis, birthing balls and drug-fee/natural birth were “invented” to protect women and babies from the harmful effects of narcotics and other drugs, mechanical birth and surgical birth that seem to be very popular among patients and doctors in hospitals today. Pain in labour is temporary, and it actually gives us women a triumphant boost similar to that of winning a marathon. The uplifting effects help us during the tough job of motherhood.
