Ground Rules

01/27/2005 at 10:02 PM ET

We have been noticing an uptick in the number of nasty comments people are posting- saying nasty things about the celebrities and their babies and/or other readers.  There is just no need for this.

Sarah and I spend about 40 hours on this site each week putting up fresh content for our readers.  We do it because we get enjoyment out of it and we because we know you love it.  If we have to spend any more time policing the bitchy comments, that is going to cut down on us looking for those photos you requested, looking for news or writing.

If you insult a celebrity, celebrity’s child, another reader or one of us, we will delete the comment.  If we notice you do it more than once, we will ban you from making comments on the site.  If this continues to eat up any more of our time, we will just close the comments altogether.  If you don’t like it, then don’t visit the site.  This site is not for you then.

Im so glad you posted this announcement. I have been shocked at some of the contents that people have submitted. This board is not a nasty chat room. This is a great place for people to see their favorite celebs and their kids, not a free for all of negativity and immaturity, so what a relief that you made the post and hopefully those baddies will behave!

I agree! If you think a celeb’s child is ugly or weird-looking, just don’t comment at all. There are cute babies, gorgeous babies, and “hope they grow out of their looks” babies and children. Just comment on the first two. Don’t say anything you wouldn’t say to them in person. Would you walk up to Gwyneth Paltrow and say “Apple is a stupid name and she’s ugly, too?” I don’t think so!

Okay, I am confused. You have no problem posting stalkerazzi pictures of celebs trying to frantically shield their children from the cameras, but the idea that people would dare say some of these children are not gerber baby material is offensive? People say the actors and actresses take big money to be famous and the loss of privacy is the price they pay, yet people can’t say things that may be considered mean about the children? Interesting.

It’s one thing to say, for example, about So and So’s daughter, “Too bad she looks like him.” That’s funny. It’s the kind of thing we say ourselves. It’s another to say, “she’s an ugly ho” which is the kind of commentary we are seeing more and more of.

Another problem we’re seeing is, let’s say you say “so and so’s daughter is ugly,” big So and So’s fans are getting all pissed off and they decide that instead of just saying, “Well, I disagree- I think she’s beautiful,” they decide they need to attack you and tell you that you’re ugly and stupid. They have been doing this A LOT lately. We have spent way too much time editing or deleting comments.

Sarah and I don’t want to censor people but we want to have a site that we don’t have to constantly police so that’s why we felt we needed to lay down some ground rules. The other option is to just shut down the ability to comment, period. We don’t want that either.

This is my final comment on this topic.

This is my website. It is not a democracy. The “rules” are not up for debate.

If you disagree with our philosophy or politics, you don’t have to visit. I encourage you to find another web site dedicated to Celebrity Babies whose philosophy you agree with.

Brigidine, one has nothing to do with the other. If you, or anyone else, has a problem with the content that we post, please feel free to not look.

As Danielle said, she (and I) don’t need to explain why we choose to run the website as we do.

Basically, if you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say anything at all. If you absolutely HAVE to say something mean, expect that it may be edited or deleted.

This is a fun blog! I for one love to see the offspring of celebrities. If they go out in public, gee they might get their photo taken just like us ordinary folk!
And there are always going to be rotten apples in the barrel. I don’t blame you for tossing them out! Good luck and keep up the good work.

Mom Said It

"I had to make a decision that I could sleep with every night. I did feel responsible for the young girls who I probably confused and let down. I apologize for that. But I wasn't trying to glamorize teen pregnancy."
