Lou Rawls still reproducing!

01/14/2005 at 02:55 PM ET

Honestly, my first response when I saw this was, "Lou Rawls is still alive?"

From People.com Virtual Newsstand Correspondent Lili:

Lou Rawls, age 69, and his wife/manager Nina, age not provided (though one can assume younger than he), had their first child on Monday, January 10. Aiden Allen Rawls was born at 6lbs. 14oz. in Ohio. Lou Rawls has three grown children.

Lili editorializes, "It has been a slow baby week in the world of celebs. Perhaps the Brad/Jen frenzy has distracted everyone from reporting other news!"

69? Gosh, you people! You thought he was dead? 69 isn’t that old, agism is a terrible thing

Personally I think it’s selfish to still be having kids at 69, you’ll probably be dead before they turn 20. That’s my opinion though. :)

Sarah, you’re right it’s selfish. How is Lou Rawls going to play with this child or anything? I mean forget 20 statisically he’ll probley be dead BEFORE this child turns 10. How horrible and don’t you feel bad for the mother of this child. She’s got a baby that’s going to be coming out of diapers and a husband that’s going into them. I always think it’s so selfish of someone this age to have children. I mean the odds are he won’t see this kid graduate elementary school much less highschool.

I don’t exactly see anything wrong with it. I don’t think it’s the amount of time you have with someone….it’s the quality of time you’ve spent with them. Perhaps they weren’t planning this pregnancy. It could have been an accident…you never know.

Yikes! I thought Letterman was an old dad but this one takes the cake!

Mom Said It

"I had to make a decision that I could sleep with every night. I did feel responsible for the young girls who I probably confused and let down. I apologize for that. But I wasn't trying to glamorize teen pregnancy."
